Hadith 21214

It is narrated from Hazrat Abi (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a man whose house was far from Masjid Nabawi. In my opinion, no one's house was farther than his. Someone said to him, "It would be good if you got a donkey or something similar." He replied, "I do not like that my house should be adjacent to the house of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)." I had never heard a more unpleasant sentence from his mouth than this, but then it became clear that his intention was to earn the reward of walking from afar towards the mosque. So they asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "He will receive a rank for every step, and you will get what you intended."
