Hadith 21212

It is narrated from Hazrat Abi (may Allah be pleased with him) that a cousin of mine lived far from the Prophet’s Mosque. I said to him, “It would be better if you got a donkey or something similar.” He replied, “I do not like that my house should be adjacent to the house of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).” I had never heard a more unpleasant statement from his mouth, but then it became clear that what he meant was to attain the reward of walking from afar to the mosque. So they asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “He will receive a rank for every step.” It is narrated from Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “You will get what you intended.”
