حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو يُوسُفَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ زِرَّ بْنَ حُبَيْشٍ ، يَقُولُ : لَوْلَا سُفَهَاؤُكُمْ ، لَوَضَعْتُ يَدَيَّ فِي أُذُنَيَّ ، ثُمَّ نَادَيْتُ أَلَا إِنَّ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، فِي السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، قَبْلَهَا ثَلَاثٌ ، وَبَعْدَهَا ثَلَاثٌ ، نَبَأُ مَنْ لَمْ يَكْذِبْنِي ، عَنْ نَبَإِ مَنْ لَمْ يَكْذِبْهُ ، قُلْتُ لِأَبِي يُوسُفَ يَعْنِي أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : كَذَا هُوَ عِنْدِي .
Zirr says that if there were not foolish people, I would have placed my hands on my ears and proclaimed that Laylat al-Qadr is in the last ten nights of Ramadan, in the last seven nights, whether in the first three nights or the latter ones. This is the report of a person who has not lied to me; it is from the one about whom the narrator has not lied (meaning Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, who narrates from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him).
