حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ مَنْ أَرْضَى ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّ أُبَيًّا حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَعَلَهَا رُخْصَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِقِلَّةِ ثِيَابِهِمْ ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْهَا بَعْدُ " ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُمْ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), who met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and was fifteen years old during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him), that the fatwa which people mention—that ghusl becomes obligatory upon ejaculation—was a concession that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had given in the early days of Islam. Later, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to perform ghusl.
