Hazrat Khabbab bin Al-Aratt (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I used to work with iron in Makkah Mukarramah and I was working for ‘As bin Wa’il. Once, a sum of dirhams became due to me from him. I came to him to demand them, so he said, “I will not pay your debt until you deny Muhammad.” I said, “I will not deny Muhammad, not even if you die and are brought back to life.” He said, “When I am brought back to life, I will have wealth and children (then I will pay your debt).” I mentioned this incident to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so Allah revealed this verse: “Have you seen the one who disbelieves in Our verses and says, ‘I will surely be given wealth and children [in the Hereafter]?’”
