حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى سورة الليل آية 1 ، وَفِي الْعَصْرِ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ ، وَفِي الصُّبْحِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-Lail in the Zuhr prayer, and in the Asr prayer he would recite similar surahs, but in the Fajr prayer he would recite longer surahs than these.
