It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man passed away. Someone came to inform the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying, "O Messenger of Allah, such-and-such a man has died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "He has not died." The man came three times to give this news. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "How did he die?" He replied that the man had cut open his chest with a knife (committed suicide). Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not lead his funeral prayer.
