Samaat says that I asked Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you participate in the gatherings of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would remain silent most of the time and would laugh little. However, in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the companions would sometimes recite poetry and mention their affairs and laugh, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also smile."
