It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that we were washing the daughter of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Hazrat Zainab. The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to us and said, "Wash her three or five or more times, but in odd numbers. If you think it appropriate, add lotus leaves to the water." We considered seven to be appropriate.
