حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَغْسِلُ ابْنَتَهُ عَلَيْهَا السَّلَام ، فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، أَوْ خَمْسًا ، أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكَ ، بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي " ، قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ ، وَقَالَ : " أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " ، قَالَ : وَقَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ قَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ سَبْعًا " ، قَالَ : وَقَالَتْ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ : مَشَطْنَاهَا ثَلَاثَةَ قُرُونٍ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that we were washing the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Zainab. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said, "Wash her an odd number of times, three or more, and if you think appropriate, mix lote tree leaves in the water. In the end, apply camphor to her." And when you have finished with these things, inform me." So when we finished, we informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw a lower garment towards us and said, "Wrap it around her body first, starting from the head." Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says, "We combed Hazrat Zainab's hair and made it into three braids."
