Mutarrif says that I have learned two hadiths from the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding which I am certain that I am truthful in them, but I do not remember which of them is first. Abu Muslim narrated to us from Hazrat Jarud that once we were on a journey with the Prophet (peace be upon him), there was a shortage of riding animals, and people were discussing the lack of mounts. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I think I know what can suffice us regarding mounts." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "What is that?" I said, "We should go to the place of Juruf and get camels from there and benefit from riding them." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "No, a Muslim’s lost property is like a flame of fire; do not go near it. A Muslim’s lost property is like a flame of fire; do not even go near it." And regarding a lost and fallen thing, he said, "If you find it, announce it, do not hide it, and do not conceal it. If someone recognizes it, give it to him; otherwise, it is Allah’s property, and He gives it to whomever He wills."
