Hadith 207

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حَبِيبَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ السِّمْطِ : " أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ عُمَرَ إِلَى ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا أَصْنَعُ كَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Ibn Samt says that he once set out towards Dhul-Hulaifah with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) performed two rak'ahs there. I asked him about this, and he replied, "I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same."
