حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلِمَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانُوا يَأْتُونَا الرُّكْبَانُ مِنْ قِبَلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَنَسْتَقْرِئُهُمْ ، فَيُحَدِّثُونَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا " .
Hazrat Amr bin Salamah says that some riders used to come to us from the Prophet (peace be upon him); we would learn the Qur'an from them, and they would narrate this hadith to us: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The one among you who knows the Qur'an the most should lead your prayer."
