حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَبَهْزٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيَّ قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ ، يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ " ، قَالَ : فَقَرَأَ ابْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ وَرَجَّعَ ، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَوْلَا النَّاسُ لَأَخَذْتُ لَكُمْ بِذَاكَ الَّذِي ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ، أَوْ حَمَلَهُ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَقَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ فَرَجَّعَ فِيهَا ، قَالَ أَبُو إِيَاسٍ : لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ لَرَجَّعْتُ كَمَا رَجَّعَ.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Mughaffal that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting the Holy Qur'an on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah. If people had not gathered around me, I would have recited it to you in the manner of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al-Fath. Muawiyah bin Qurrah says that if I too did not fear people gathering, I would have demonstrated before you the style narrated by Abdullah bin Mughaffal, showing how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited.
