حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ ، يَقُولُ : " قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي مَسِيرِهِ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ " ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " نَزَلَتْ سُورَةُ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ ، فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَرَجَّعَ فِيهَا " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَكْرَهَ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ ، لَحَكَيْتُ لَكُمْ قِرَاءَتَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، وَأَبُو طَالِبِ بْنُ جَابَانَ الْقَارِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ جَابَانَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : " آ آ ".
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal that I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) reciting the Holy Qur’an on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah. If people had not gathered around me, I would have recited it to you in the manner of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) recited Surah Al-Fath. Muawiyah bin Qurrah says that if I too did not fear people gathering around, I would have demonstrated before you the style described by Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal, showing how the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited.
