حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ ، وَهُوَ أَبُو سُلَيْمَانَ أَنَّهُمْ أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ وَصَاحِبٌ لَهُ أَوْ صَاحِبَانِ لَهُ فَقَالَ : أَحَدُهُمَا صَاحِبَيْنِ لَهُ ، أَيُّوبُ أَوْ خَالِدٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا : " إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَأَذِّنَا ، وَأَقِيمَا وَلْيَؤُمَّكُمَا أَكْبَرُكُمَا ، وَصَلُّوا كَمَا تَرَوْنِي أُصَلِّي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Malik bin Huwairith that we two men came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). We informed him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When the time for prayer comes, one person should give the adhan and iqamah, and the eldest among you should lead the prayer, and you should pray as you have seen me praying.
