حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ : " نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالْفِضَّةِ ، وَالذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ ، إِلَّا سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ ، وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ فِي الذَّهَبِ ، وَالذَّهَبَ فِي الْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا " ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : يَدًا بِيَدٍ ؟ فَقَالَ : هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to sell silver for silver and gold for gold only in equal amounts, and also commanded that silver may be sold for gold or gold for silver as desired (there may be an increase or decrease).
