حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْبَصْرِيّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا يُحَدِّثُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عُثْمَانَ الْقُرَشِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَكَفَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ : " لَوْ قُسِّمَ أَجْرُهَا بَيْنَ أَهْلِ الْحِجَازِ لَوَسِعَهُمْ ".
Narrated to us by ‘Attab ibn Ziyad, narrated to us by ‘Abdullah, meaning Ibn al-Mubarak, narrated to us by Zakariyya Abu ‘Imran al-Basri, who said: I heard a shaykh narrating to ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthman al-Qurashi, narrated to us by ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah, and he mentioned the hadith except that he said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took responsibility for him, and said: "If its reward were divided among the people of Hijaz, it would suffice them."
