حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ الضَّبِّيّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ الْأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ جَاءَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا بَايَعَكَ سُرَّاقُ الْحَجِيجِ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ وَغِفَارَ وَمُزَيْنَةَ وَأَحْسَبُ جُهَيْنَةَ ، مُحَمَّدٌ الَّذِي يَشُكُّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ أَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارُ وَمُزَيْنَةُ وَأَحْسَبُ جُهَيْنَةَ خَيْرًا مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ ، وَبَنِي عَامِرٍ ، وَأَسَدٍ ، وَغَطَفَانَ ، أَخَابُوا وَخَسِرُوا " فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَأَخْيَرُ مِنْهُمْ ، إِنَّهُمْ لَأَخْيَرُ مِنْهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Aqra’ bin Habis came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that your allegiance has been pledged by the tribes of Aslam, Ghifar, Muzainah, and he also mentioned, I think, Juhainah, that these are the people who used to steal the belongings of the pilgrims. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell me, if in the sight of Allah, the people of the tribes of Juhainah, Aslam, Ghifar, and Muzainah are better than those of Banu Asad, Banu Tamim, Banu Ghatafan, and Banu Amir bin Sa’sa’ah, then will they (the latter) not remain deprived and in loss? Aqra’ said: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, those people are better than Banu Tamim, Banu Amir, Banu Asad, and Banu Ghatafan.
