حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ قُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ ، وَلَا صُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ " ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ : وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ مَرَّةً : قَالَ قَتَادَةُ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَخَافَ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ التَّزْكِيَةَ ، أَوْ لَا بُدَّ مِنْ رَاقِدٍ أَوْ غَافِلٍ ؟.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should say, "I stood in prayer and fasted for the entire Ramadan," because there is no way to avoid heedlessness or sleep. It may happen that he sleeps through a day.
