حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُمْهَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَتَنْزِلُنَّ أَرْضًا يُقَالُ لَهَا : الْبَصْرَةُ أَوْ الْبُصَيْرَةُ عَلَى دِجْلَةَ ، نَهَرٌ . . . " فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ، قَالَ الْعَوَّامُ : بَنُو قَنْطُورَاءَ هُمْ التُّرْكُ.
Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, al-‘Awwam ibn Hawshab informed us, from Sa‘id ibn Jumhan, from Ibn Abi Bakrah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You will surely settle in a land called al-Basrah or al-Busayrah on the Tigris, a river..." — and he mentioned its meaning. Al-‘Awwam said: Banu Qantura are the Turks.
