حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّلِيلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي مُجِيبَةُ عَجُوزٌ مِنْ بِاهِلَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا أَوْ عَنْ عَمِّهَا , قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِحَاجَةٍ مَرَّةً ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ " قَالَ : أَوَ مَا تَعْرِفُنِي ؟ قَالَ : " وَمَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ " قَالَ : أَنَا الْبَاهِلِيُّ الَّذِي أَتَيْتُكَ عَامَ أَوَّلٍ , قَالَ : " فَإِنَّكَ أَتَيْتَنِي وَجِسْمُكَ وَلَوْنُكَ وَهَيْئَتُك حَسَنَةٌ ، فَمَا بَلَغَ بِكَ مَا أَرَى ؟ " فَقَالَ : إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَفْطَرْتُ بَعْدَكَ إِلَّا لَيْلًا , قَالَ : " مَنْ أَمَرَكَ أَنْ تُعَذِّبَ نَفْسَكَ ؟ " ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ صُمْ شَهْرَ الصَّبْرِ رَمَضَانَ " قُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً ، وَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي , فَقَالَ : " فَصُمْ يَوْمًا مِنَ الشَّهْرِ " قُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً ، وَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي , قَالَ : " فَيَوْمَيْنِ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ " قُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً ، وَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي , قَالَ : " وَمَا تَبْغِي عَنْ شَهْرِ الصَّبْرِ ، وَيَوْمَيْنِ فِي الشَّهْرِ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً ، وَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي , قَالَ : " فَثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ " قَالَ : وَأَلْحَمَ عِنْدَ الثَّالِثَةِ ، فَمَا كَادَ ، قُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً ، وَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي , قَالَ : " فَمِنْ الْحُرُمِ ، وَأَفْطِرْ " .
Mujeebah narrates from her father or uncle that once I came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) for some work. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Who are you?" I replied, "Do you not recognize me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Who are you?" I replied, "I am Bahili, the one who came to you last year as well." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "At that time when you came, your body and your complexion were very good, and now the state in which I see you, what has brought you to this condition?" I replied, "By Allah, after leaving you, I have only broken my fast at night." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said three times, "Who has ordered you to punish yourself?" Observe the fasts of the month of patience, that is, Ramadan." I said, "I feel strong within myself and wish that you add something to it." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Fast one day in every month." I said, "I feel strong within myself and wish that you add something to it." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Fast two days in every month." I said, "I have the strength for more than that and wish that you add something to it." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Fast three days in every month." Here he stopped. I again requested the same. Then he said, "Fast in the sacred months and also break your fast."
