Hadith 20293

It is narrated from Hazrat Ma’qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Hudaybiyyah, he came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had raised a branch of a tree above his blessed head, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was taking the pledge of allegiance from the people. On that day, the people pledged allegiance on the condition that they would not flee, and at that time their number was fourteen hundred. Hakeem bin A’raj says that the purpose of “Yadullah fawqa aydihim” was also that they would not flee.
