حدثنا عبد الله ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي الْجَرْبِيَّ السِّمْسَارَ , حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ الْعُطَارِدِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ بْنِ عَرْفَجَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلَابِ يَعْنِي مَاءً اقْتَتَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ , قَالَ : فَمَا أَنْتَنَ عَلَيَّ . .
Abdullah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Uthman—meaning al-Jarbi as-Simsar—narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Hayyan al-'Ataridi, from Abdur-Rahman ibn Tarafah ibn 'Arfajah, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: His nose was injured on the Day of al-Kulab—meaning a water source over which they fought in the Jahiliyyah—so he mentioned something similar, and he said: "How foul it is upon me..."
