حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بن عبد الوارث ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْعَوْذِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : غَزَوْنَا مَعَ سِنَانِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ مُكْرَانَ ، فَقَالَ سِنَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْمُحَبِّقِ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ رَمَضَانُ ، لَهُ حُمُولَةٌ يَأْوِي إِلَى شِبَعٍ ، فَلْيَصُمْ رَمَضَانَ حَيْثُ أَدْرَكَهُ " , وقَالَ سِنَانٌ : وُلِدْتُ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ ، فَبُشِّرَ بِي أَبِي ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ : وُلِدَ لَكَ غُلَامٌ , فَقَالَ : سَهْمٌ أَرْمِي بِهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا بَشَّرْتُمُونِي بِهِ , وَسَمَّانِي سِنَانًا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever reaches Ramadan and has the strength to endure hunger, then wherever he encounters the month of Ramadan during travel, he should fast. And Sinan says: I was born on the day of the Battle of Hunayn. My father was given the good news of my birth, and people informed him that a boy had been born to him. He said: The arrow that I shoot in defense of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is more beloved to me than the good news you have given me. Then he named me Sinan.
