Hadith 20033

It is narrated from Hazrat Muawiyah (bin Hida) رضي الله عنه that I submitted: O Messenger of Allah! We are a people who ask each other for wealth (i.e., seek financial help). The Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: A person should (only) ask when he is in (severe) need or when there is such discord/separation among the people that he is collecting wealth to end it and bring about reconciliation. Then, when he reaches (the required amount) or comes close to it, he should refrain (from asking).
