It is narrated from Hazrat Muawiyah Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once his father or uncle said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Why have my neighbors been seized?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from his words. This happened twice. Then his father or uncle said, "By Allah! If you do this, people will think that you command something and then you yourself violate it." He kept speaking and I was dragging my sheet along as I was going, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What was this man saying?" The people informed him that he was saying, "If you do this, people will think that you command something and then you yourself violate it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Can people say such a thing? Even if I did so, its effect would be upon me, not upon them. Leave his neighbors."
