Hadith 20013

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَزَعَةَ ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ : مَا حَقُّ الْمَرْأَةِ عَلَى الزَّوْجِ ؟ قَالَ : " تُطْعِمُهَا إِذَا طَعِمْتَ ، وَتَكْسُوهَا إِذَا اكْتَسَيْتَ ، وَلَا تَضْرِبْ الْوَجْهَ ، وَلَا تُقَبِّحْ ، وَلَا تَهْجُرْ إِلَّا فِي الْبَيْتِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What right does our wife have over us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When you eat, feed her as well; when you clothe yourself, clothe her as well; do not strike her on the face; do not abuse her; and if you separate from her, do so only within the house."
