Once, Muswar came to Hasan and said, "My slave had run away. I made a vow that if I saw him again, I would cut off his hand. Now he is in 'Jisr'." Hasan said, "Do not cut off his hand, because a man had said the same thing to Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him): 'My slave has run away, and I have vowed that if I see him, I will cut off his hand.' He replied, 'Do not cut off his hand, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to encourage us to give charity in his addresses and forbade mutilation.'"
