حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا السَّوَّارِ الْعَدَوِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ الْخُزَاعِيَّ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " الْحَيَاءُ لَا يَأْتِي إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ " فَقَالَ بُشَيْرُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ : مَكْتُوبٌ فِي الْحِكْمَةِ : أَنَّ مِنْهُ وَقَارًا ، وَمِنْهُ سَكِينَةً , فَقَالَ عِمْرَانُ : أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْ صُحُفِكَ ؟ !.
It is narrated from Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty always brings goodness. After hearing this hadith from him, Bashir bin Ka'b said: It is written in the books of wisdom that modesty produces dignity and tranquility. Hazrat Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am narrating to you the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and you are talking about your scriptures.
