Abu Minhal says that once I was present with my father in the company of Hazrat Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him). My father asked him, "Tell us, how did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offer the obligatory prayers?" He replied, "He used to offer the Zuhr prayer, which you call 'Ula,' when the sun had declined. He would offer the Asr prayer at such a time that when any one of us returned to his home in Madinah, the sun would still be visible. Regarding Maghrib, what he said I have forgotten. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked to delay the Isha prayer, and he did not like to sleep before it or to talk after it. And after offering the Fajr prayer, he would finish at such a time that we could recognize the person sitting next to us, and in it, he would recite between sixty and a hundred verses."
