حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، عَن أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَن أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ يَسْتَاكُ ، وَهُوَ وَاضِعٌ طَرَفَ السِّوَاكِ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ ، يَسْتَنُّ إِلَى فَوْقَ ، فَوَصَفَ حَمَّادٌ كَأَنَّهُ يَرْفَعُ سِوَاكَهُ ، قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَوَصَفَهُ لَنَا غَيْلَانُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ يَسْتَنُّ طُولًا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and at that time he was using the miswak. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed the end of the miswak on his tongue and was using the miswak on the edge of his tongue. The narrator says that he used to use the miswak lengthwise.
