حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا ، مِنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ، عَن بُرَيْدٍ ، عَن أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَن أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا يُثْنِي عَلَى رَجُلٍ ، وَيُطْرِيهِ فِي الْمِدْحَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَقَدْ أَهْلَكْتُمْ أَوْ قَطَعْتُمْ ظَهْرَ الرَّجُلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a person praising someone (in his presence) and exaggerating in it, so he said: "You have broken his back."
