حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ابْنِ جَابِرٍ الْحُدَّانِيِّ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ ، يَدَّعِمُ عَلَى عَصًا لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ لِي غَدَرَاتٍ وَفَجَرَاتٍ ، فَهَلْ يُغْفَرُ لِي ؟ قَالَ : " أَلَسْتَ تَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " قَدْ غُفِرَ لَكَ غَدَرَاتُكَ وَفَجَرَاتُكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a very old man, walking with the support of a stick, came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have committed great deceptions and great sins. Can I be forgiven?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "All your deceptions and sins have been forgiven."
