It is narrated from Hazrat Adi bin Hatim Tai (may Allah be pleased with him): I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the game that dies due to the broad side of an arrow. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you kill the game with the sharp edge of the arrow, you may eat it, but if you kill it with the broad side of the arrow, it is considered as mauqooza (an animal that dies due to a blow). Then I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about hunting with a dog. (The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When you send your dog for hunting and mention the name of Allah, you may eat what it catches for you, provided it has not eaten from it itself. For its catching is like slaughtering it. But if you find another dog along with your dog, and you fear that the other dog may have caught and killed the game, then do not eat it, because you mentioned the name of Allah when sending your dog, not the other dog.)
