Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) remembered the day of Thursday and said: "What was the day of Thursday?" Saying this, he began to weep until the pebbles lying there became wet with his tears. We asked: "O Abu al-Abbas! What happened on the day of Thursday?" He replied that the illness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had intensified. On that occasion, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring me writing materials, so that I may write for you a document after which you will never go astray." There arose a difference of opinion among the people, although it was not appropriate in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). People began to say: "What has happened? Can the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also speak incoherently? Go and ask again what he intends." So the people returned, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave me now, for the state I am in is better than what you are calling me to." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a bequest of three things: "Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, honor the incoming guests just as I used to honor them," and regarding the third matter, Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) remained silent. I do not know whether he deliberately remained silent or forgot.
