حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : لَقِيتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : كَمْ غَزَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ ، قُلْتُ : كَمْ غَزَوْتَ أَنْتَ مَعَهُ ؟ قَالَ : سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : فَمَا أَوَّلُ غَزْوَةٍ غَزَا ؟ قَالَ : ذَاتُ الْعُشَيْرِ ، أَوْ : الْعُشَيْرَةِ .
Abu Ishaq says that I asked Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), "How many expeditions did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) undertake?" He replied, "Nineteen." I asked him, "In how many expeditions did you participate?" He said, "I participated in seventeen of them." When I asked the name of the first expedition, he said, "Dhat al-Iysra or Dhat al-Ushayrah."
