حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَجْلَحَ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِالْيَمَنِ ، فَأُتِيَ بِامْرَأَةٍ وَطِئَهَا ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ فِي طُهْرٍ وَاحِدٍ ، فَسَأَلَ اثْنَيْنِ : أَتُقِرَّانِ لِهَذَا بِالْوَلَدِ ؟ فَلَمْ يُقِرَّا ، ثُمَّ سَأَلَ اثْنَيْنِ : أَتُقِرَّانِ لِهَذَا بِالْوَلَدِ ؟ فَلَمْ يُقِرَّا ، ثُمَّ سَأَلَ اثْنَيْنِ ، حَتَّى فَرَغَ يَسْأَلُ اثْنَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ عَنْ وَاحِدٍ ، فَلَمْ يُقِرُّوا ، ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ ، فَأَلْزَمَ الْوَلَدَ الَّذِي خَرَجَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْعَةُ ، وَجَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ ثُلُثَيْ الدِّيَةِ ، فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَضَحِكَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was in Yemen, a woman was brought to him with whom three men had committed adultery in the same period of purity. He asked two of the men, "Do you acknowledge the child for this person?" They did not acknowledge. In this way, he kept questioning each one together with the other until this stage was completed, and none of them acknowledged the child. Then he cast lots among them, and the one whose name came out, the child was attributed to him, and two-thirds of the blood money was fixed upon him. When this matter was presented before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled so much that his blessed teeth became visible.
