حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ أَخْبَرَنِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَمْزَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَنَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " مَا أَنْتُمْ بِجُزْءٍ مِنْ مِئَةِ أَلْفِ جُزْءٍ مِمَّنْ يَرِدُ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي " ، قَالَ : كَمْ كُنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ؟ قَالَ : سَبْعَ مِئَةٍ ، أَوْ ثَمَانِ مِئَةٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during a journey, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped at a place and said, "On the Day of Resurrection, those who come to me at the Pond of Kawthar will not even be one hundred-thousandth of you." We asked Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), "How many were you at that time?" He replied, "Six to seven hundred."
