حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ ، فَكَبَّرَ خَمْسًا ، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو عِيسَى عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ ، فَقَالَ : نَسِيتَ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، وَلَكِنْ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ خَلِيلِي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَبَّرَ خَمْسًا ، فَلَا أَتْرُكُهَا أَبَدًا .
Abdul A’la (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I offered the funeral prayer behind Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him). He said takbeer five times in it. So Ibn Abi Layla stood up, took his hand, and said, “Have you forgotten?” He replied, “No, rather I offered the funeral prayer behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who was my beloved and Abu’l-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him). He said takbeer five times, so I will never abandon it.”
