Hadith 1918

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I prayed eight rak‘ahs together with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (i.e., Zuhr and Asr), and I also prayed seven rak‘ahs together (i.e., Maghrib and Isha). The narrator says: I asked him, “O Abu al-Sha‘tha! I think that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed Zuhr at its last time and Asr at its earliest time, and likewise Maghrib at its last time and Isha at its earliest time (and this is what he called combining between the two prayers)?” He replied, “That is also what I think.”
