حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ ، وَعَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، أَنَّهُمْ أَصَابُوا حُمُرًا ، فَطَبَخُوهَا ، قَالَ : فَنَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَكْفِئُوا الْقُدُورَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, some donkeys fell into our hands, so the announcer of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) proclaimed: "Turn over the pots." It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that when someone would bring the zakat of his wealth to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet would pray for him. One day, I also brought the zakat of my father's wealth, so the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, send blessings upon the family of Abu Awfa."
