حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُما ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ تَخَلَّى بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً ، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari presented himself in the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Just as you have given so-and-so a position, why do you not give me any position?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Soon you will face favoritism after me, at that time be patient until you meet me at the Pond of Kawthar tomorrow."
