It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for the conquest of Makkah, he was fasting, but when he reached the place of Kudayd, he broke his fast. And the last action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is taken as proof. Someone asked Sufyan whether this last sentence is the statement of Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) or of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)? He replied: These words have come in the hadith exactly like this.
