Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him) that I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and thought that I would definitely observe how the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prayer. So, the Noble Prophet faced the Qiblah and said the Takbeer, and raised both hands up to the level of his shoulders, then with his right hand, he held his left hand. When he intended to bow (ruku'), he again raised his hands up to the level of his shoulders while performing the raising of the hands (raf' al-yadayn), and in ruku', he placed both his hands on both his knees. When he raised his head from ruku', he again raised his hands up to the level of his shoulders while performing the raising of the hands (raf' al-yadayn). And when he went into prostration (sajdah), he placed his hands near his face. And when he sat, he spread his left foot and kept his right foot upright, and placed his left hand on his left knee, and placed the limit of his elbow on his right thigh, and made a circle by forming a ring with the number thirty, and pointed with his index finger. It is narrated from Hazrat Wa'il that once again, I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the winter season, and I saw the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) raising their hands from inside their cloaks.
