Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him) that I prayed behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) faced the Qiblah and said the Takbeer, and raised both hands up to the level of his shoulders. When he intended to bow (ruku'), he again performed raf' al-yadayn, raising his hands up to the level of his shoulders. When he raised his head from ruku', he again performed raf' al-yadayn, raising his hands up to the level of his shoulders. And when he went into prostration (sajdah), he placed his hands near his face. And when he sat, he spread his left foot and kept his right foot upright, and placed his left hand on his left knee, and placed the limit of his elbow on his right thigh, and made a circle of the number thirty, forming a ring, and pointed with his index finger. Then he performed the second prostration, and in the state of prostration, the hands of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were at the level of his ears.
