Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was present in the plain of Arafat in the service of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and at that time he was eating pomegranate. He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also did not fast in the plain of Arafat. Umm al-Fadl had sent him milk, which he drank, and he said: May Allah curse the person who attains one of the greatest days of the days of Hajj and then erases its adornment. The adornment of Hajj is the Talbiyah.
