Hadith 18579

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَشْعَثُ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ بِي عَمِّي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، وَمَعَهُ لِوَاءٌ قَدْ عَقَدَهُ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : أَيْ عَمِّ ، أَيْنَ بَعَثَكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " بَعَثَنِي إِلَى رَجُلٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةَ أَبِيهِ ، فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day I met my uncle Harith bin Amr, and he had a flag with him. I asked him, "Where are you going?" He replied, "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent us to a man who, after his father's death, has married his father's wife (stepmother), and he has commanded us to kill him."
