Hadith 18545

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : " صَالَحَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ عَلَى أَنْ يُقِيمُوا ثَلَاثًا ، وَلَا يَدْخُلُوهَا إِلَّا بِجُلُبَّانِ السِّلَاحِ " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَمَا جُلُبَّانُ السِّلَاحِ ؟ قَالَ : الْقِرَابُ وَمَا فِيهِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a peace agreement with the people of Makkah on the condition that he would stay in Makkah for only three days and would enter Makkah carrying only "jilban silah." The narrator asked the meaning of "jilban silah," and he replied: the sheath and the sword.
