It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped with an army during the last part of the night. The Noble Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) honorable wife, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), was also with him. That same night, her ivory necklace broke and fell. The people stopped to search for her necklace. This continued until the break of dawn, and the people did not have any water (to perform prayer). On this occasion, Allah Almighty revealed the concession in ablution, that is, the command to perform tayammum with pure earth. Thus, all the Muslims stood with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), struck their hands on the ground, raised their hands but did not pick up any soil, and wiped their hands over their faces and shoulders, and in the same way, wiped the inner parts of their hands up to the armpits. Therefore, people should not fall into doubts about this, and we also learned that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his daughter Aisha Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), “By Allah! I did not know that you are so blessed.”
